How to compile kernel with RocketRaid 2640 RAID Cards

1. yum install kernel update you want

2. wget http://www.support-highpoint-tech.com/Main/rr26xx/264x/Linux/opensrc/rr2640-linux-src-v1.2-090925-0932.tar.gz

Newer: http://www.highpoint-tech.cn/BIOS_Driver/rr26xx/2640X1-2640X4-2642/Linux/rr264x-linux-src-v1.3-legacy_single-101203-0910.tar.gz

3. tar xzvf rr2640-linux-src-v1.2-090925-0932.tar.gz

4. cd rr2640-linux-src-v1.2-090925-0932/product/rr2640/linux/

5. check your new kernel location/path by checking inside /lib/modules/

In this example, we will compile the driver for kernel 2.6.18-194.17.1.el5.028stab070.7

6. Type

make KERNELDIR=/lib/modules/2.6.18-194.17.1.el5.028stab070.7/build/

7. Find out the exact path to the folder of the new kernel inside /usr/src/kernels/, in this case, the new kernel has folder named 2.6.18-194.17.1.el5.028stab070.7-x86_64 - so we type

make install KERNELDIR=/usr/src/kernels/2.6.18-194.17.1.el5.028stab070.7-x86_64
